“We’re approaching the Arsenal task with confidence” – Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has fired a warning at Arsenal ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash at the Emirates next week. The Rekordmeister have won their last three meetings against the Gunners, with all three games finishing 5-1 but reaching this stage of the competition for the first time since 2010, it’s Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal that come into this game as the in-form team.

After a 2-0 Klassiker defeat against Borussia Dortmund at the weekend, Bayern Munich find themselves seven points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen with just seven games remaining. And eliminated by 1. FC Saarbrücken in the DFB Pokal, the Champions League is only Bayern’s real chance of a trophy this season.

Speaking to the club’s Säbener 51 magazine (h/t: iMiaSanMia), Hainer said: “After the convincing 3-0 win in the second leg against Lazio, our team had two wins afterwards, the 8-1 against Mainz and 5-2 over Darmstadt.

“The team showed what they’re capable of as soon as they use all their qualities. We are FC Bayern, we are approaching the Arsenal task with confidence – our next goal is clearly the semi-finals.”

Injury boost for Bayern Munich ahead of Arsenal clash

Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman worked individually in the gym on Tuesday but there is some positive news ahead of Bayern’s games against Heidenheim and Arsenal. Aleksandar Pavlovic and Raphael Guerreiro both returned to training and completed the full session, while Manuel Neuer is also expected to return against the Gunners.
