Erling Braut Haaland free to play for Borussia Dortmund this weekend – no quarantine

According to Kicker, Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland does not need to quarantine and is therefore available for selection for this weekend’s Bundesliga fixture against Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Norwegian teammate Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday whilst on international duty but after questioning upon Haaland’s return to Germany, the Dortmund health department understand that the 20-year-old was not in close contact with his fellow countryman.

“After Erling Braut Haaland returned to Dortmund, a detailed questioning about possible contact with another Norwegian player who tested positive took place. Mr. Haaland does not belong in category one (close contact). The health department did not have to issue a quarantine order,” explained the Dortmund health department.

Rune Jarstein (Hertha Berlin) and Alexander Sörloth (RB Leipzig) also returned to Germany following international duty.

Haaland has scored 11 goals in 11 games in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season and is expected to start against Hertha BSC on Saturday.
