James Rodriguez will not return to Real Madrid this summer

James Rodriguez will remain at Bayern Munich this season despite reports Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui wants to cut his loan move short, according to ESPN.

Reports arising from Spain had suggested that James was looking to return to Spain following the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and coach Zinedine Zidane.

However, speaking with ESPN, James’ agency, Gestifute, stated that a return isn’t likely given there is no clause for either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich to break the initial two-year loan agreement.

The Bundesliga champions then have the option to make the Colombian’s move permanent for €35.2 million, should they wish to do so.
