Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed has revealed that Manchester United manager called him during the process of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s move from Dortmund to Manchester United.

Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola had accused Dortmund of “very bad management” when the club were reluctant to sell Mkhitaryan to Manchester United.

“Of course we talked about the transfer. He [Mourinho] said to me: ‘In the end you decide and, however this pans out, the most important thing is that our friendship doesn’t suffer because of that. There are more good players than good friendships.’ And he is absolutely spot on.
