Paris Brunner discusses a potential Germany call-up

AS Monaco’s Paris Brunner has caught the attention of Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp, which has naturally created rumours about a possible call up to the national team for November’s UEFA Nations League games against Serbia and the Netherlands.

However, Brunner, who opened the scoring in Monaco’s 3-0 victory over Freiburg in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday night, remains grounded.

“I’m trying to do what I do best – score goals,” he told German broadcaster RTL. Brunner, who doesn’t seem concerned regarding the lack of contact with Klopp, added: “The initiative came from him, I’m just carrying on as usual.”

In September, Klopp said: “I haven’t spoken to him, but I’m aware of everything.”

Brunner has scored four Ligue 1 goals in five games for Monaco since his summer move from Borussia Dortmund and has a further four in this season’s Conference League.

With two goals in three Germany U21 appearances, there’s naturally a lot of hype around the young attacker but it remains to be seen as to whether or not he’ll be called up to the senior team next month.
