Jean-Matteo Bahoya’s proposed move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Hull City has collapsed despite the two clubs having already reached a verbal agreement over a transfer.Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the 21-year-old French attacker has decided against leaving Frankfurt for the newly-promoted Premier League side. The deal is therefore currently off despite Eintracht and Hull having agreed terms at club level.
The development represents a significant late change of course in a transfer that had gathered considerable momentum. Hull had emerged as the most concrete suitor for Bahoya heading into the final days of the summer window, but the player himself has ultimately opted against the move to England.
Bahoya’s future has nevertheless been the subject of considerable speculation throughout the summer. Get German Football News previously reported that Roma were considering the Frankfurt winger as an alternative to RB Leipzig attacker Antonio Nusa. At the time, Eintracht were reportedly prepared to consider offers approaching €30m for the former Angers academy product.
Frankfurt initially paid approximately €8m to acquire Bahoya from Angers in January 2024. The France youth international subsequently developed into one of the Bundesliga’s more intriguing young wide attackers, with his exceptional pace remaining his most immediately identifiable asset.
Bahoya now remains an Eintracht player heading into the final stretch of the transfer window. Other possibilities cannot necessarily be ruled out before the deadline, but the specific move to Hull City has collapsed after the player decided against making the switch.
