Robin Koch set for a recall to the German national team

Sport1 reports that Julian Nagelsmann is set to recall Eintracht Frankfurt defender Robin Koch to the German national team ahead of the March international break.

After Frankfurt’s 3-1 win against Hoffenheim on Sunday, Koch confirmed that he had spoken to Nagelsmann and knows whether he is included in the squad or not. Koch last played for Germany in 2020 under Joachim Löw and has not been involved in the set-up since.

Koch is likely to be joined by debutant Deniz Undav and potentially Jan-Niklas Beste and even Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksander Pavlovic for friendlies against France in Lyon and the Netherlands in Frankfurt when Nagelsmann announces his squad on Thursday.

Since returning to the Bundesliga on loan from Leeds United, Koch has been indispensable in the Frankfurt defence as he acts as the leader in a young defence. It was clear one of his motives upon returning to the Bundesliga was to also return to the national team ahead of Euro 2024 in the summer.
