Real Madrid continue to play mind games with Bayern Munich

Real Madrid’s long-standing admiration of Alphonso Davies has been well documented, and their efforts to sign the Canadian have increased significantly this season. However, in recent weeks, Los Blancos have been pushing Davies to not sign a new deal with Bayern Munich as they look to lure him over to the Spanish capital in the summer.

Davies’ contract expires with Der Rekordmeister in 2025, meaning that if the 23-year-old does not renew with Bayern, then there would be pressure to sell the left-back before he leaves on a free transfer.

While the German champions are hoping to extend Davies’ deal, as reported by Kicker, there is a strong belief at the club that Real are still urging Davies’ agent to reject any proposal made by Bayern. This has frustrated Der Rekordmeister, who now think that the Canadian’s performances have suffered as a consequence.

On the other hand, Davies is not giving anything away by explaining to Kicker: “I feel very comfortable here. I play in an incredible team at one of the absolute top clubs in Europe. I stay focused and give everything for the team and our fans.”

However, if the left-back fails to improve in his performances, then both Bayern and Real will be questioning whether they want his signature in the long term. A goal against Augsburg on Saturday afternoon could be a catalyst for change for Davies, but more will be expected if he is to receive his contractual demands from either club.
