Predicted Bayern Munich XI vs Union Berlin: Thomas Tuchel to make changes in midfield?

Thomas Tuchel is expected to make one change following Bayern Munich’s 1-0 defeat against Werder Bremen on Sunday. The Rekordmeister host Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night in their rescheduled fixture as they look to close the gap to Bayer Leverkusen to four points.

Joshua Kimmich and Raphaël Guerreiro has been the preferred midfield pivot, but Leon Goretzka could make his return to the starting eleven in place of the latter. Tuchel’s preferred partnership of Kimmich and Guerreiro in 2024 makes Goretzka a frustrated figure at the club.

Although Matthijs de Ligt suffered a capsule injury in his left knee during the club’s training camp in Faro, Portugal, the Dutchman started against Bremen on Sunday and is again expected to partner Dayot Upamecano, with Kim Min-jae currently representing South Korea at the Asia Cup.

Mathys Tel also performed well when substituted in against Bremen, but will likely find his place on the bench. Serge Gnabry remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.
