Predicted Bayer Leverkusen XI vs Freiburg: Patrik Schick and Exequiel Palacios to start?

Bayer Leverkusen will look to extend their unbeaten run to 38 games across all competitions on Sunday afternoon when they play Freiburg. Bayern Munich’s comeback win against Darmstadt on Saturday means there’s now seven points between the two teams, and a win for Bayer will see Xabi Alonso’s side restore a 10 point lead at the top.

Alonso is expected to make a number of changes from the team that fought back heroically against Qarabag in midweek. Lukas Hradecky will return in goal while Exequiel Palacios should start alongside Granit Xhaka, meaning Robert Andrich will drop to the bench. In attack, Patrik Schick, who scored a brace against Qarabag, should start ahead of Borja Iglesias while Jonas Hofmann will play alongside Florian Wirtz behind the Czech forward. Because of Hofmann’s switch into a more advanced role, expect to see Jonathan Tah come in for Amine Adli.

This game should still come too early for Victor Boniface, who has returned to training, while Edmond Tapsoba and Xhaka will serve a one match suspension for the next yellow card that they pick up.

Predicted Bayer Leverkusen XI vs Freiburg

Lukas Hradecky – Odilon Kossounou, Jonathan Tah, Piero Hincapié – Jeremie Frimpong, Exequiel Palacios, Granit Xhaka, Alex Grimaldo – Jonas Hofmann, Florian Wirtz – Patrik Schick.
