Official | Mainz announcing the firing of manager Jan Siewert

Mainz have announced that they have fired head coach Jan Siewert and will head at the latter end of the season with a new head coach.

Siewert took over as Mainz head coach in November replacing Bo Svensson even signing a contract extension to remain as head coach until 2026.

After an initial improvement under the former Huddersfield manager. since returning from the winter break Mainz have not improved and are still yet to win their second game of the season whilst they currently sit 17th in the Bundesliga and sit nine points from safety.

Mainz will announce their new head coach on Tuesday afternoon. Sky Germany suggests that Mainz’s under-19 coach Benjamin Hoffmann is an option. This would follow a similar path to that of Svensson.

With relegation looking increasingly likely, this could be Mainz’s plan to prepare themselves for life in the 2.Bundesliga as they need something close to a miracle to survive.
