After the news that Sven Mislintat is on the verge of returning to Borussia Dortmund, there is likely to be another structural change with Matthias Sammer, reports Sky Germany.
It is reported that Sammer could be given a more involved role at Dortmund. The Ballon d’Or winner is currently in an advisory role at Dortmund but could be given a more influential role. Some are interested in Sammer becoming the new sporting director, but he is said to be uninterested in the role.
This will give Sammer and Mislintat the opportunity to work together once again, as during Mislintat’s previous time at Dortmund they worked well together. Mislintat even tried to bring Sammer to Stuttgart during his time at the club.
This move once again puts into question a potential promotion for Sebastian Kehl. The return of Mislintat as well as this potential new role for Sammer means that the current sporting director would have less control in such a role on top of the reported doubts about him.
