Liverpool and Manchester City enter the race to sign Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich is becoming a wanted man with his Bayern Munich future uncertain.

As reported by Christian Falk, Liverpool and Manchester City have both put out feelers for the 28-year-old, who has a contract with the Rekordmeister until 2025.

Despite interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, Kimmich is focussed on Bayern Munich and has no intention of leaving the club in January.

PSG’s interest in Kimmich has been well documented. As reported via our colleagues at Get French Football News, PSG’s attempt to lure Kimmich to the French capital has very little chance of succeeding in this window.

According to BILD (h/t: iMiaSanMia), Newcastle United have also enquired about signing Kimmich, but the player feels comfortable in Munich.

Busy months ahead for Bayern Munich

Negotiations regarding a contract extension at Bayern are yet to take place, but are expected to be led by Max Eberl. It’s expected to be a busy time for Bayern’s recruitment team with expiring contracts of Kimmich, Leroy Sané and Alphonso Davies, all of whom are entering the final 18 months of their current deals.

Failure to find an agreement may result in a potential departure in the summer, as to avoid losing the player on a free transfer in 2025.
