Julian Nagelsmann the favourite to replace Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich

Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) reports that Julian Nagelsmann is the favourite to replace Thomas Tuchel and become Bayern Munich’s manager at the end of the season.

Max Eberl is a big fan of the idea of bringing Nagelsmann back to Bayern in the summer and different scenarios are currently being considered.

One such scenario is the fact that Nagelsmann will be in charge of the German national team until mid-July a the latest. This would likely mean that Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund would implement any ideas that the manager has.

Just over a year ago, Nagelsmann was sacked as Bayern manager after a 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the league, and the arrival of Tuchel saw the Rekordmeister scrape over the finish line to win the Bundesliga last season, but this season has seen them regress massively despite signing Harry Kane in the summer.

Nagelsmann also currently has a contract with the German national team until after the Euros and there has been talk about a potential extension, which could affect Bayern’s plans.

No decision on Bayern’s manager has been made yet with Ralf Rangnick and Roberto De Zerbi behind Nagelsmann in the pecking order and Benfica’s Roger Schmid a potential outsider for the Bayern role.
