“Fight to the end” – Jadon Sancho ahead of difficult Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid

Jadon Sancho has called for fight from his Borussia Dortmund teammates ahead of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday night.

Dortmund come into this game following a 1-0 defeat against Stuttgart, which has seen Die Schwarzgelben slip into fifth, and out of the Champions League places. With five games across 16 days, BVB face a hectic schedule as they look to keep their season on track.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s clash, Sancho said: “I’m looking forward to Wednesday, of course it will be a very tough game. It’s never easy in Madrid, they have a great team. Our focus has to be right and we have to stick together, then I’m sure we can beat them. Their performances speak for themselves, they’re very strong defensively and we shouldn’t underestimate them. We just have to stick to the plan and fight to the end. We have to believe in ourselves that we’re going to win.”

Jadon Sancho has excelled since his Borussia Dortmund return

Since his return to Borussia Dortmund, Sancho has started in 10 of the 12 games that the Englishman has featured in across the Bundesliga and Champions League, scoring two and creating two.

Borussia Dortmund are desperate to keep Sancho at the club next season, but financial limitations are holding them back. Dortmund would only be able to offer Manchester United a similar fee to what they paid for Sébastien Haller. The Ivorian joined Dortmund in the summer of 2021 for €31 million; however, this is far from United’s asking price for Sancho.
