Borussia Dortmund will do what they can to keep Jadon Sancho

When Jadon Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester United, Die Schwarzgelben were enduring a difficult Bundesliga campaign. Averaging just 1.75 points per game, Dortmund were falling further behind the chasing pack and a notable 14 points behind Bayern Munich in second place.

However, since the Englishman’s arrival, BvB’s fortunes have drastically improved. Now, Dortmund are averaging 2.36 points per game and have leapfrogged RB Leipzig in the table while simultaneously reducing the gap between them and Bayern to seven points

This has, therefore, left Dortmund contemplating how they could ensure Sancho’s return to the Westfalenstadion is not a fleeting one. As reported by Sport Bild, the Black and Yellows are desperate to keep the 24-year-old next season, but financial limitations are holding them back.

It is understood that currently, Dortmund would only be able to offer Manchester United a similar fee to what they paid for Sébastien Haller. The Ivorian joined Dortmund in the summer of 2021 for €31 million; however, this is far from United’s asking price for Sancho.

Nevertheless, the Englishman is keen to remain at Dortmund, and an additional loan for next season cannot be ruled out. Regardless, both sides are looking to agree upon a long-term solution.

For Dortmund, Donyell Malen could be used in a potential swap or straight sale to raise funds, with the Dutchman continuing to look for a route out of the club. However, BvB have not yet been informed of any concrete interest in Malen, leaving Sancho’s future open.
