Eric Dier to join Bayern Munich on a permanent deal

David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Bayern Munich are set to make the loan move of defender Eric Dier permanent.

Dier will sign a one-year deal at the club until 2025. Within the original loan agreement, there were certain obligations to be met that would trigger the permanent move, these have now been met. This brings to an end a 10-year association with Tottenham Hotspur which saw him reach a Champions League final with the club in 2019.

Since joining from Spurs in the winter, Dier has seen himself played six times as Bayern were plunged into a crisis in defence due to injuries and suspensions.

The 30-year-old has been competing with Kim Min-Jae, Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt for a starting place.

Bayern currently finds themselves second in the Bundesliga and eight points off of league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. The club looks set for their 11-year stranglehold on the title to come to an end this season.
