Bundesliga Predictions | Round 28

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: FC Köln vs Bochum

My match of the week is FC Köln vs Bochum. This will be a classic relegation dogfight. Köln, in particular, need to win this game to close the gap to Bochum. Bochum, in the meantime, can put a proper gap between them and a direct competitor. I suspect the atmosphere will be incredible in Köln. This should be a fun match to tune into just ahead of the Topspiel between Dortmund and Stuttgart.

Manu’s Predictions:

Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 Werder Bremen; Union Berlin 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen; Freiburg 1-2 RB Leipzig; Mainz 1-1 Darmstadt; FC Köln 1-1 Bochum; Heidenheim 1-2 Bayern Munich; Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Stuttgart; Hoffenheim 1-2 Augsburg; Wolfsburg 2-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Borussia Dortmund vs Stuttgart

My game of the week has to be the Topspiel between Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart. Edin Terzic’s side will be buoyed by their impressive win in Der Klassiker last weekend, but Stuttgart do pose an entirely different challenge. Where Dortmund could sit deep and hit Bayern on the counter, I suspect the Westfalenstadion faithful will demand attacking football from the home side, which may play into Stuttgart’s hands. The Swabians, for their part, haven’t been entirely flawless on the road, so I suspect both teams may have to settle for a point apiece in this game. But it will certainly be entertaining for fans and neutrals alike.

Stefan’s Predictions:

Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 Werder Bremen; Union Berlin 1-2 Bayer Leverkusen; Freiburg 0-2 RB Leipzig; Mainz 1-0 Darmstadt; FC Köln 1-1 Bochum; Heidenheim 0-2 Bayern Munich; Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Stuttgart; Hoffenheim 0-1 Augsburg; Wolfsburg 2-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Scores after MD27: Manu – 169, Stefan – 184
