Bundesliga Predictions | Round 17

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: RB Leipzig vs Eintracht Frankfurt

My match of the week is RB Leipzig against Eintracht Frankfurt. I am so very curious to see some of the new faces. Frankfurt with Donny van de Beek and Sasa Kalajdzic and Leipzig with Eljis Elmas. Also this will be a clash between two sides that have played some great football during the first half of the season and both have ambitions to build on the first half. With all that in mind, I had a hard time separating them but I think that Leipzig have a little bit better quality and should take this game in a narrow win.

Manu’s Predictions:

  • Bayern Munich 3-1 Hoffenheim
  • RB Leipzig 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Freiburg 1-1 Union Berlin
  • Mainz 1-1 Wolfsburg
  • FC Köln 0-2 Heidenheim
  • Augsburg 0-3 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Darmstadt 1-3 Borussia Dortmund
  • Bochum 2-1 Werder Bremen
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-3 Stuttgart

Stefan’s Game of the Week: FC Köln vs Heidenheim

While there are a number of big hitters locking horns this weekend, I can’t help but take an interest in Heidenheim’s trip to Köln on Saturday. The newly-promoted team have punched above their weight this season, but that has been largely due to their impressive home form. To date they’ve only managed one away win in the Bundesliga this season. Yet they travel to a Köln side that have been dreadful this season and decided to pull the trigger on their head coach just before the break. New coach Timo Schultz talks a good game, but if his side can’t take points off Heidenheim at home, there may be very little for fans of the club to be optimistic about in the second half of the season.

Stefan’s Predictions:

  • Bayern Munich 2-1 Hoffenheim
  • RB Leipzig 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Freiburg 1-1 Union Berlin
  • Mainz 2-2 Wolfsburg
  • Köln 1-2 Heidenheim
  • Augsburg 1-2 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Darmstadt 0-2 Borussia Dortmund
  • Bochum 2-0 Werder Bremen
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-2 Stuttgart

Scores after MD16: Manu – 109, Stefan – 111
