Aleksander Pavlovic expected to be called up for Germany at the expense of Leon Goretzka

According to Bild, Julian Nagelsmann is expected to call up Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksander Pavlovic at the expense of his teammate Leon Goretzka.

The reason that there has suddenly been a bigger push to call Pavlovic up to the German national team is due to the interest from Serbia. Pavlovic has the opportunity to also represent Serbia and they have also been trying to convince the midfielder to represent them.

However, as neither of the games in the March international break are competitive games, there would still be a chance for Pavlovic to switch nationalities down the line.

The 19-year-old will be joined in the squad with a handful of other debutants as VfB Stuttgart trio Deniz Undav, Waldemar Anton and Maximilian Mittelstädt are all expected to receive their first call-ups to the national team for friendlies against France and the Netherlands.

Heidenheim’s Jan-Niklas Beste could also be joining up with the national team.
