Youssoufa Moukoko likely to stay at Borussia Dortmund in the winter

Sky Germany reports that Youssoufa Moukoko will likely stay at Borussia Dortmund this January despite previous reports of him being unhappy with his playing time.

Moukoko wants to fight for his place in the starting 11 and with Sébastien Haller set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations in January, the 19-year-old will only need to compete with Niclas Füllkrug. Dortmund are also adamant that they would like to continue with three striking options.

Last season was Moukoko’s breakout for Dortmund as he filled in for Haller while he was recovering from cancer but seemingly since the acquisition of Füllkrug in the summer, Edin Terzic has lost faith in the 19-year-old.

1.FC Köln had shown interest in Moukoko in the summer and it had also been reported that they may try and sign him again in winter but that rumour is currently quiet.

Despite most of his playing time coming off the bench, Moukoko has shown in recent weeks that he deserves to start for Dortmund sometimes ahead of Füllkrug, who has sometimes been inconsistent.
