Youssoufa Moukoko decision to be made by the end of January

Borussia Dortmund have set a deadline for the end of January in relation to the ongoing contract talks with Youssoufa Moukoko (18), according to Ruhr Nachrichten.

For months, both BVB and Moukoko’s representatives have been in deadlock over the figures of the player’s new contract. Previously, Dortmund reportedly offered the forward over 3m a year salary and a healthy signing-on fee to match. However, Moukoko’s party are holding out for more.

With his current contract ending at the end of the season, the German international has gathered the interest of some of Europe’s top teams. Most recently, Newcastle offered Moukoko a €9m yearly salary and on top of that a €30m signing fee

However, further talks between Dortmund and Moukoko are set for the coming days with a decision being finalised at the end of the month.

Moukoko has experienced a breakout in the latter part of the year. Filling in for Sébastien Haller, the 18-year-old has scored six goals and assisted three in his 14 matches in the league. His form not only displaced emergency signing Anthony Modeste, but Moukoko also earned a call-up to the German national team for the World Cup making a brief appearance against Japan.
