Xabi Alonso has an agreement that allows him to join former clubs

Sport Bild reports that Xabi Alonso has an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen that allows him to leave the club and join one of his former clubs if they approach him.

Alonso recently extended his contract at Leverkusen until 2026, however, this has not stopped an agreement between the two parties from being reached that if in the summer Alonso receives an approach from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Liverpool he can leave Leverkusen.

Madrid have previously shown interest in bringing Alonso to the club to replace Carlo Ancelotti next summer and with the start that Alonson has engineered at Leverkusen in the opening games of the season, it will leave him even more desirable.

Leverkusen currently sit first in the Bundesliga, unbeaten and two points clear of Bayern Munich in third. They have shown that they are able to go toe to toe with the best teams in the league having beaten RB Leipzig on the opening game of the season as well as drawing 2-2 with Bayern in Munich.
