Wataru Endo to remain at VfB Stuttgart

Wataru Endo will remain a VfB Stuttgart player this summer, according to Sky Germany

The Japanese international has been heavily linked to SC Freiburg, however, contrary to reports the midfielder is set to stay at Stuttgart and extend his contract.

The club captain was the standout player for the Swabians in what was a very underwhelming season. Stuttgart only secured their Bundesliga survival by beating Hamburg SV in the relegation play-off.

Stuttgart have no plans to sell Endo. The only thing that would change their mind is an absurdly high offer which is unlikely to come. Freiburg won’t pay over the odds for the 30-year-old as they already have cover in his position with the likes of Nicolas Höfler, Maximilian Eggestein, Yannik Keitel Merlin Röhl, and Robert Wagner.

It’s crucial for Sebastian Hoeneß to keep key assets such as Endo and build a more competitive team around him in the summer.
