VfB Stuttgart face issues in their search for a new goalkeeper

Kicker reports that VfB Stuttgart faces issues with targets Yann Sommer and Alexander Nübel as they continue their search for a new keeper.

When it comes to Sommer, Stuttgart will likely not sign the 34-year-old this summer, as Inter Milan have entered the race for the Swiss number one. Inter sees Sommer as the replacement for André Onana who is likely to join Manchester United.

For Nübel, the 26-year-old has yet to receive any clarity on his future at Bayern Munich which makes things difficult for Stuttgart. The other issue is that Bayern are only interested in selling Nübel, which is something financially Stuttgart cannot afford and they would prefer to loan the 26-year-old for a season.

The aim is that a one-year loan for Nübel will then allow Stuttgart to promote 17-year-old goalkeeper Dennis Seimen, who Stuttgart would like to make their number one within the next two years due to his talent.

VfB hopes that they can begin next season with a new number-one goalkeeper and then have Fabian Bredlow and Seimen as backup options.
