As reported by Bild, Union Berlin could make a move for Werder Bremen forward Marvin Ducksch this summer.
Ducksch is a name that has been linked with Union several times in the past. With the striker having a superb season with Bremen and coming off the back of scoring three goals against Hertha Berlin, it’s no wonder that rumours are circulating once again.
Union sporting director Oliver Ruhnert talked about strengthening the squad after last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“Basically, I think we already have a good squad.” Nevertheless, Union will not be able to avoid strengthening the team,” said the 51-year-old.
In terms of negotiating for Ducksch, Union may not have to work too hard. The 29-year-old is under contract until 2024 but has an exit clause of just €7.5m. Should Union secure Champions League football next season, this will certainly play a factor in Ducksch’s decision. As of yet, the Dortmund native is yet to play in a European Cup competition.
