Thomas Tuchel: “The players are ready to give everything again.”

Bayern Munich must beat Köln and hope that Borussia Dortmund lose against Mainz on Saturday if they are to retain their Bundesliga title and heading into the final game, Thomas Tuchel discussed an array of topics, including the motivation of the players.

“The players are ready to give everything,” said Tuchel. “Of course, some also long for vacation to clear their heads. Säbener Straße must be the haven for the players. There must be a working atmosphere where everyone likes to come. It doesn’t matter what happens in your private life, with the national team of anywhere else.”

Bayern Munich have just three wins in their last eight games across all competitions. When asked on how he assesses the results, Tuchel said: “We’re not happy with the results.

“It’s our job to be more dominant, play faster and combine things more fluently and to play more flawlessly. We’re not succeeding in that right now. We’re not satisfied with the results or the way it was done but we won’t stop working on it.”

On Bayern’s personnel situation, Tuchel confirmed that Alphonso Davies, Lucas Hernández, Manuel Neuer and Paul Wanner will not travel with the squad to Köln, but Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will return, giving the Rekordmeister another option in attack.

Choupo-Moting is yet to score for Bayern under Tuchel and has missed the seven Bundesliga games due to a knee injury but during his time at PSG and Bayern, the Cameroonian forward has played 135 under Tuchel.

Bayern Munich have won three and suffered two defeats in their last five Bundesliga games which has put the club two points behind Borussia Dortmund, who are 90 minutes away from their first Meisterschale since 2012.
