The reasons behind Oliver Glasner and Eintracht Frankfurt’s separation

SportBild have revealed some of the reasons behind Eintracht Frankfurt and Oliver Glasner’s impending separation in the summer

The first reason behind the separation is the difference in opinion when it came to the squad. Glasner has been openly critical of the imbalance and lack of quality within the squad at Frankfurt. While sporting director Markus Krösche was hoping that Glasner would be able to develop the likes of Hrvoje Smolcic and Faride Alidou, Glasner was not interested and would have preferred more money to be invested into the thin squad to help reach the season goals.

Glasner has also repeatedly expressed his anger with outbursts in the press conferences following matches vs Union Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and recently Hoffenheim.

During one of these press conferences, he spoke about youth player Dario Gebuhr with these comments seen as disrespectful towards the 20-year-old. These outbursts were seen negatively within the team.

Another reason was the fact that Glasner did not immediately accept the improved contract offer from Frankfurt, which annoyed Krösche. This resulted in the 48-year-old’s future being a constant theme within press conferences which resulted in continued unrest.

Glasner will manage his final game for Frankfurt in the DFB Pokal against RB Leipzig on June 3rd.
