Steffen Baumgart to extend FC Köln contract until 2025

As reported by Bild, FC Köln head coach Steffen Baumgart is expected to extend his contract by a further year until 2025.

Speaking over the weekend, Köln managing director Christian Keller opened up about Baumgart’s future at the club after facing several questions from the media.

“We extended the contract by a year last summer. So we officially announced it. But you don’t have to announce everything that you discuss. Steffen and I had a very trusting exchange, which we continue to have. We have agreed exactly how to proceed,” said the 44-year-old.

According to Bild’s sources, FC Köln bosses and Buamgart have agreed to extend his contract for another year until 2025. This also matches Baumgart’s recent statements that he will not haggle for any salary increase and sees no reason to think about other options before 2025.

An official announcement is expected to be released in the next couple of weeks. As things stand, FC Köln are 12th in the Bundesliga and struggled to juggle both league and European football earlier in the season. The billygoats can get their first win in three this Friday evening when they host bottom-of-the-league VfL Bochum.
