Schalke’s Rodrigo Zalazar agrees four-year deal at Braga

After an impressive season that saw eight goal contributions in 23 games for Schalke, Rodrigo Zalazar is about to join Portuguese side SC Braga after agreeing a four-year contract.

According to Sky Germany, Schalke will receive around €6m for Zalazar who leaves after joining the club on a permanent basis from Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2022. Eintracht will also receive a six-figure sum as they had a resale clause for the Uruguayan international.

Finishing third behind Benfica and Porto, Braga and Zalazar will be playing Champions League football next season.

Schalke are also moving quick to reinforce their squad following relegation to the 2. Bundesliga. A percentage of the fee will be invested in Freiburg’s Lino Tempelmann, who will fill the void left Alex Kral and Tom Krauß. With Dominick Drexler and youngster Assan Ouedraogo, S04 aren’t expected to enter the market for a like-for-like replacement to Zalazar at this stage.
