RB Leipzig to make compromise on Fabio Carvalho loan

RB Leipzig are closing in on Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho (20), but the club are having to make a compromise.

Bild report that the deal won’t include an option to sign Carvalho on a permanent basis. This is something that the Saxony club wanted to avoid as when they signed Joshua Kimmich on loan from Stuttgart in 2013, they missed out on signing him because of a failure to include a purchase option, which resulted in Kimmich joining Bayern Munich for €8.5m.

Both RB Leipzig and Liverpool are working on finding an agreement, but the Bundesliga club hope to give Carvalho regular playing time that will make him feel comfortable at the club, which could play into their hands following the end of his loan spell which puts the club in an excellent negotiating position.

Should one of Dani Olmo or Dominik Szoboszlai leave the club in 2024, Leipzig see Carvalho as a potential replacement and by then, the Portuguese attacker will have a year of Bundesliga experience.
