RB Leipzig enter race for Marcus Thuram

Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig are interested in bringing Marcus Thuram to the club on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Leipzig’s primary target is still RC Lens’ Loïs Openda however they have yet to reach an agreement with Lens over a transfer fee for the 23-year-old. Leipzig have already begun to initiate contact with Thuram and his management over a possible move for the 25-year-old.

However, Thuram is wanting close to €10m in wages which is expensive for Leipzig. While they must also face competition from AC Milan, Inter Milan and PSG for the 25-year-old, all those clubs are comfortably able to offer the wages wanted.

Both Max Eberl and Marco Rose know Thuram well due to their time together at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Eberl brought Thuram to Germany back in 2019 from Guingamp in France. While Rose was the coach of Gladbach for two years before joining Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
