Official | Wolfsburg complete signing of Václav Černŷ from FC Twente

Wolfsburg have announced that they have completed the signing of winger Václav Černŷ from FC Twente, making it their third signing of the summer.

Černŷ joins Wolfsburg for a fee of €8m and signs a contract at the club until 2027. On his move to the Bundesliga, Černŷ said: “I can’t wait for it to finally start. The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world. It has always been my dream to play here and I am very happy to be able to wear the jersey of VfL Wolfsburg next season.”

Sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz also commented on the signing: “We are very pleased that Vaclav has chosen VfL Wolfsburg and our path. He is a very goal-dangerous player who has impressively proven his qualities in Enschede and is far from over with his development. We are convinced that he can take the next step in his career in Wolfsburg and will be an important reinforcement for our offensive.”

Černŷ joined Twente in 2021 and played 78 times for the club scoring 22 and assisting 21. The 25-year-old has spent most of his career in the Netherlands, joining the Ajax Academy from the Czech Republic in 2014. The Czech international would play 29 times for Ajax’s senior team before joining Utrecht.

This signing is Wolfsburg’s third of the summer after having already completed the signings of Mortiz Jenz from Lorient as well as Cédric Zesiger from Young Boys.

Last season, Wolfsburg finished eighth in the Bundesliga missing out on European football next season by a point. Despite a run of strong results, three losses in the final four games allowed the chasing pack of teams to catch up with Wolfsburg.
