Kai Havertz set for Arsenal medical

Sky Sports report that Chelsea’s Kai Havertz (24) is set to complete his Arsenal medical this weekend ahead of a £65m (€75m) transfer, which could be made official next week.

Havertz is expected to sign a five-year contract with Arsenal upon completion of his medical, which is expected to be completed overseas due to the German’s schedule. The attacker’s move across London ends a three-year spell at Chelsea after joining the club from Bayer Leverkusen for €80m – with his move to Arsenal, Chelsea will recoup a percentage of what they paid to sign Havertz in 2020.

Bayern Munich had also shown interest in signing Havertz as they search the market for a No. 9, but the German’s advanced talks with Arsenal put Mikel Arteta’s side in pole position.

During his time at Chelsea, Havertz has scored 32 and created 15 in 139 games across all competitions. It was Havertz that scored the only goal against Manchester City to secure the 2021 Champions League title.
