Official | Thomas Delaney joins Hoffenheim on loan

Bundesliga side Hoffenheim have today announced the signing of Thomas Delaney (31) on loan from Sevilla for the remainder of the season.

“Thomas has proven in all his previous positions that he’s a real leader,” said TSG Sporting Director Alexander Rosen. “With his ways of playing football and his qualities as a leading player, he brings important components lacking due to injuries, amongst other things.

“Through his time at Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund, he knows exactly how the Bundesliga works and what is required in it in order to be successful.”

During his time at Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund, Delaney has played 107 games in the Bundesliga, scoring 11 and creating 13. During his four-year spell at BVB, the Dane also played 16 games in the Bundesliga, and comes with a wealth of experience.

And at the moment, it’s experience that Hoffenheim needed. With a 2-2 draw against Stuttgart and defeats against Union Berlin and Borussia Mönchengladbach, TSG are winless in 2023 and although 13th, are just three points above Bochum who occupy the relegation playoff.

At Hoffenheim, Delaney is the latest Dane to play at the Sinsheim club alongside Robert Skov, Jacob Bruun Larsen and Kasper Dolberg. Delaney may even get his debut on Wednesday against RB Leipzig in the DFB Pokal.
