Official | Nathanaël Mbuku completes Augsburg move

Augsburg have this evening announced the signing of French youth international Nathanaël Mbuku (20) from Stade Reims on a 4.5-year contract until 2027.

Mbuku is Augsburg’s sixth signing of the January transfer window after Dion Beljo, David Colina, Irvin Cardona, Arne Engels and Kelvin Yeboah.

The French attacker has played just 60 minutes of Ligue 1 football this season, but has played 84 games across all competitions for Reims since making his debut against Marseille as a 17-year-old.

Since his appointment in the summer, Enrico Maaßen has done a remarkable job but although down in 14th and just two points above the relegation playoff, Augsburg have been playing some excellent football.

FCA almost caused a shock against Borussia Dortmund, losing narrowly 4-3 before a 1-0 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach. On Saturday, they suffered a 3-1 defeat against title challengers Freiburg.

Maaßen’s side have a difficult game against Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend before a trip to Mainz and a home game against Hoffenheim.
