Official | Kim Min-jae joins Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have this afternoon announced the signing of South Korean defender Kim Min-jae from Napoli on a long-term contract until 2028.

“Bayern is a dream for every footballer,” said Kim. “I’m really looking forward to what’s to come in Munich. It’s a new beginning for me. I’ll continue to develop here. In discussions with the club, it was made clear to me from the start how interested they are in me. My first goal is to play a lot of games. In addition, I want to win as many trophies as possible.”

Bayern Munich activated Kim’s €50m release clause earlier in the month and despite Manchester United attempting to hijack the deal and the player declining offers elsewhere, Kim’s only intention was to join Bayern Munich.

In a heartfelt Instagram post prior to Bayern Munich’s announcement, Kim thanked Napoli fans for his time at the Serie A champions. During his time at Napoli, Kim played 45 games across all competitions, scoring two and creating two.

Kim will now travel to Tegernsee where the club are currently undergoing their training camp before travelling onward to Asia for a tour.
