Noah Katterbach to join Hamburg on loan

Noah Katterbach is set to join Hamburg on loan for the rest of the season, his parent club, 1. FC Köln have announced. The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Basel in Switzerland.

Basel have given their permission for the left-back to begin training with Hamburg and his current loan with the Swiss club will be cut short. Over the coming weeks, the final details of the loan will be finalised.

Katterbach has played 11 times for Basel this season with most of his appearances coming in the UEFA Conference League whilst last season he played 17 times in the second half of the season.

Hamburg need an additional left-back as Tim Leibold is joining Sporting Kansas City in the MLS. Their current left-back options are Miro Mulheim and Bent Andersen.

Köln are also set to sign Leart Paqarada from St Pauli in the summer, who can also play as a left-back.

Hamburg are currently second in the 2. Bundesliga as they chase promotion for the fifth time of asking and restart their season against Eintracht Braunschweig on Sunday 29th January.
