As reported by Sport Bild, Marco Reus hopes to sign an extended deal with Borussia Dortmund.
Last season, the 34-year-old had looked to sign a two-year extension with the Black and Yellows. However, Dortmund’s policy of only offering one-year deals to players over the age of 30 prevented Reus from doing so.
Therefore, with his contract set to expire this summer, Reus has already decided to commit his future to BvB. Once negotiations undoubtedly begin between Dortmund and Reus, the former club captain hopes to extend his deal by another year.
However, with Reus failing to get any younger, Die Schwarzgelben may believe that an extension is not necessarily best for both parties. If this were the case, then Reus would not hang up his boots, and instead, he would look to sign for another club – preferably in Germany.
Nevertheless, with important contributions having already been made this season, it is clear to see that the 34-year-old still has a place in the side. Perhaps a deserved first-ever Meisterschale would eventually come the way of one of Dortmund’s most loyal servants.
