Loris Karius extends his Newcastle United contract

As reported by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Loris Karius has extended his contract with Premier League side Newcastle United until the end of the season, and further talks will take place to extend his deal beyond the summer.

Karius joined Newcastle United on a short term deal in September as cover for the injured Karl Darlow, who is now expected to leave the club on loan this month. Karius will act as cover for Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka, the latter is cup-tied for the Carabao Cup.

Former Mainz and Liverpool goalkeeper Karius (29) is yet to make his debut for Newcastle United but was on the bench for seven from a possible 11 Premier League games.

Howe’s Newcastle United are third, just nine points behind leaders Arsenal and have lost just one of their 19 Premier League games this season. The Magpies face Southampton in the Carabao Cup semi-final on January 24 and it’s expected that Kerius will sign a new deal by then.
