Bayer Leverkusen in talks with Ibrahim Maza over contract extension

Bayer Leverkusen have started negotiating with Algerian attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza to extend his contract beyond 2030, according to Sky Germany, with the Algerian’s new deal including a salary adjustment.

Maza joined Leverkusen from Hertha Berlin in 2025 for €12m and impressed in his first season at the Bay Arena. Last season, he made 28 league appearances, scoring three goals and providing four assists. The club considers him a key player who will have a great impact in the future. His current contract expires in June 2030.

Several English Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in Maza. Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Manchester City are said to be monitoring the player’s progress, but Leverkusen want to make a statement by keeping the player at the club – It has also been suggested that Maza is open to a contract extension.

Maza returned to training this week after sustaining an injury during the international break. He has featured in all Bundesliga games this season and has one goal and one assist.
