Borussia Mönchengladbach will let Yann Sommer leave for Bayern Munich if they can sign Jonas Omlin

As reported by Bild, Borussia Mönchengladbach will let Yann Sommer leave for Bayern Munich this winter as long as they themselves can secure the signing of Jonas Omlin from French side Montpellier.

Earlier this week, Gladbach rejected an €8m + €1m in bonuses offer from Bayern for their goalkeeper. Even after lengthy discussions, it appeared that Gladbach weren’t quite happy to let the Swiss international leave.

Sommer has already reached a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich to sign a contract until 2025, but the Rekordmeister must reach an agreement with Die Fohlen if they are to sign the Swiss goalkeeper this month.

As per the report, Gladbach would in fact be willing to accept the same offer from Bayern but only if they can reach an agreement with Montpellier to sign Jonas Omlin as Sommer’s replacement.

However, a deal between Gladbach and Montpellier does sound likely as Omlin is keen to join the Bundesliga outfit. The pieces seem to be in a place, it’s now only a matter of time.
