Leon Goretzka to fight for Bayern Munich place amid Manchester United interest

Manchester United’s interest in Leon Goretzka is well documented but despite starting neither of the three friendlies on Bayern Munich’s Asia Tour, the player wants to fight for his position at the club.

As reported by Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch, Goretzka believes in his chances under Thomas Tuchel and so, a departure from the Rekordmeister isn’t currently an issue. Despite the arrival of Konrad Laimer on a free transfer following the expiry of his RB Leipzig contract, Goretzka is optimistic that he will prevail against the Austrian.

Although interest from Manchester United, there has been no request from the Premier League club while Goretzka hasn’t received any signal from Bayern’s management that he’s no longer in the club’s plans.

It’s also reported by Koch that despite Thomas Tuchel’s wish, Bayern Munich will only sign a number six should an eight leave the club but as of now, there’s currently no solution in sight. This could change should Ryan Gravenberch leave the club with Liverpool continuing to show an interest but as of now, nothing is concrete.
