Julian Nagelsmann rules himself out of the Chelsea job

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Julian Nagelsmann has ruled himself out of the Chelsea job.

The former Bayern Munich head coach was considered the top candidate for the role. However, after multiple rounds of talks, the 35-year-old has seemingly walked away from the table.

Nagelsmann visited Chelsea officials last week in regards to the managerial role at the club when Frank Lampard steps down from his interim role this summer. The Bundesliga winner had links to Chelsea thanks to the club’s director of football, Christopher Vivell. The pair had a good working relationship during their times at RB Leipzig. However, Nagelsmann is not convinced with the project at Chelsea it seems. Perhaps the lack of Champions League football next season has something to do with it?

Nagelsmann was unexpectedly relieved of his duties at Bayern after losing 2-1 to Bayer Leverkusen before the March international break. Despite being relieved of his duties, Nagelsmann is still on the payroll at the Bundesliga club and will be until he finds a new club.
