Bayern Munich have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to five points when they face Mainz on Saturday afternoon before Borussia Dortmund host Eintracht Frankfurt in the Topspiel.
After their elimination from the Champions League against Manchester City, Thomas Tuchel will expect a response from his players. Defensively, Bayern Munich will be without Benjamin Pavard after the Frenchman accumulated his fifth yellow card last weekend against Hoffenheim and so expect to see Alphonso Davies replace Pavard in their only change from their draw against City.
According to Kicker, Bayern Munich will remain unchanged in midfield and attack. Although he’s received criticism of late, Leon Goretzka is expected to keep his place alongside Joshua Kimmich whilst Kingsley Coman, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane will keep their spots behind Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
Should Bayern Munich find themselves struggling against an improving Mainz side, Tuchel has plentiful options on the bench including Serge Gnabry, Sadio Mane, Thomas Müller and Mathys Tel.
