Julian Nagelsmann handed fine for unsportsmanlike conduct

The DFB have today confirmed that Julian Nagelsmann will escape a touchline ban but has been handed a €50,000 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct following Bayern Munich’s 3-2 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach at the weekend.

Bayern Munich have already accepted the verdict, meaning their won’t be an appeal. This comes after the DFB opened an investigation against Nagelsmann after he called referee Tobias Welz and his team a ‘soft-washed pack’ in regards to Dayot Upamecano’s sending off in the sixth minute for fouling Alassane Pléa.

Defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday ended Bayern Munich’s run of 20 games unbeaten across all competitions. Union Berlin failed to capitalise on Bayern’s loss and drew 0-0 with Schalke whilst Borussia Dortmund beat Hertha Berlin, meaning the three clubs are now on 43 points after 21 games.

Bayern host Union Berlin on Sunday 26 as they look to move clear of the Berlin club.
