Julian Draxler will not join Crystal Palace

Although Crystal Palace made an enquiry to sign Julian Draxler (29), the German midfielder will not join the Premier League club, as reported by Florian Plettenberg.

This comes after RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, reported this morning that Crystal Palace made contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a move for Draxler.

Draxler spent last season on loan at Benfica, where he played just 760 minutes across 18 games under Roger Schmidt, scoring two goals- but suffered an injury-hit campaign. Out of the Germany squad, Draxler is in the final year of his contract at PSG but as reported via our colleagues at Get French Football News, doesn’t feature in the plans of new manager Luis Enrique.

Since joining PSG from Wolfsburg in 2017, Draxler has had somewhat of an underwhelming spell in Germany, hence the player’s absence from the Germany squad under Joachim Löw and now Hansi Flick.

Draxler’s best campaign in Ligue 1 came in the 2018/19 season, the German scoring three and creating eight in 31 league games.
