Jude Bellingham on captaining Borussia Dortmund: “It’s probably the greatest honour of my career.”

Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win against Chelsea in the Champions League, Jude Bellingham spoke on captaining the Bundesliga side in absence of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels.

“It’s probably the greatest honour of my career to date, to be the captain of this football club,” Bellingham told CBS Sports, via Kicker. “With Marco and Hummels I have real role models. When I see them, I know how to behave. I learn a lot from them.”

Borussia Dortmund take a 1-0 lead to Stamford Bridge with them on March 7 after Karim Adeyemi secured a first-leg win for Edin Terzic’s side, rounding off a solo run with a composed finish.

Die Schwarzgelben will go into the second-leg with full belief that they can secure a place in the Champions League Quarter-Final. Dortmund have the quality in the squad to complete the job, and it’s unlikely that Terzic will make too many alterations in the return fixture, unless forced.

Borussia Dortmund’s win against Chelsea in their seventh successive win in 2023, keeping their 100 percent record start to the year intact. In that time, BVB have scored 18 and conceded six, keeping three clean sheets.
