Harry Kane explains why he has been idolising Gerd Müller

Harry Kane’s transfer from Tottenham to Bayern Munich certainly caught the attention of the footballing world. With pressure and expectation resting heavily on the shoulders of the England captain, Kane has proven why he is one of the best players on the planet

The 30-year-old has become the first player in Bayern’s history to score seven goals in their first five games, as he looks to already cement his legacy at the club. As well as this, Kane is the first player to claim ten goal involvements in their first five Bundesliga games since records began in 2004.

Speaking to club magazine 51, Kane would explain that studying videos of Bayern and Germany legend Gerd Müller helped him quickly adapt to the Bundesliga: “I wanted to find out what he was like and how he played. He was an incredible goalscorer and, from what I hear, above all, an incredible person. It’s very special for me to follow in his footsteps.”

With 365 goals in the Bundesliga for Die Rekordmeister, Müller is undoubtedly the most iconic striker in the club’s illustrious history. When asked whether Kane could replicate the ability of Müller, honorary president Uli Hoeneß would comment: “I trust this guy to do anything.”

It appears that within a matter of weeks, the Englishman has managed to win over the hearts and minds of those associated with Die Rekordmeister. If he can inspire Bayern to further domestic and continental success, then there is no reason to believe that Kane can etch his name into Bayern folklore.
