GGFN’s Bundesliga Team of the Week | Round 3

Once again there was plenty of goals scored in the Bundesliga this week with six games providing at least four goals. We saw the same problems for some defences but also plenty of stunning goals on display. Here’s Get German Football News’ Team of the Week for MD3.

Goalkeeper: Alexander Nübel (Stuttgart)

In Stuttgart’s impressive 5-0 win over Freiburg, Nübel pulled off seven saves to make it two clean sheets in three games for him this season.

Right-back: Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen)

Played a big part in causing Darmstadt problems down the right side and provided two assists with a pull back to the edge of the box to Exequiel Palacios and a dangerous low cross for Adam Hložek to add a fifth goal.

Centre-back: Julian Chabot (FC Köln)

Simply saved Köln from losing the game with four blocks and three clearances including a clearance off the line. Bravely put his body on the line for his team.

Centre-back: Willi Orbán (RB Leipzig)

Held the Leipzig defence together to keep a clean sheet against a Berlin side that had scored eight goals in their first two games. Was strong in his duels and made six clearances for his team.

Left-back: Hiroki Ito (Stuttgart)

Provided a great assist for Serhou Guirassy’s second goal with a low driven cross across the box. Was part of a much-improved Stuttgart defence since last week’s 5-1 loss.

Centre-midfield : Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich)

Bossed the game for Bayern Munich and was particularly impressive in attack. Kimmich provided two assists, including an elegant chipped through ball for Leroy Sané to score the equaliser that he made look so easy. Also made six key passes and rarely lost the ball in possession.

Centre-midfield : Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig)

His impressive start to life in the Bundesliga continues as he scored a stunner of a goal to set his side on their way to an impressive victory. Additionally provided an assist with a clever reverse pass on the counter-attack for Šeško to finish off.

Left Midfield: Chris Führich (Stuttgart)

Ran riot again for Stuttgart. Opened the scoring by cutting in from the left and firing a shot in the bottom right corner. Scored his second in the second half by cutting in once again and finishing in the bottom left corner this time. Three goals and two assists already for him this season.

Right Midfield : Takuma Asano (Bochum)

Asano rescued a point for his team with two impressive volleyed goals with the outside of his boot and was a constant threat for Augsburg.

Striker: Benjamin Šeško (RB Leipzig)

Played just fifteen minutes off the bench for Leipzig but made the best possible impact with two goals to secure the win for his side against a Union side that’s typically strong at home.

Striker: Victor Boniface (Bayer Leverkusen)

With two goals and an assist, Darmstadt simply couldn’t handle him. An impressive all-round start to his season with four goals and two assists and his team on top of the table.
